Legal
Terms of Use
Effective [Effective date]
01Agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and [Company legal name] (“we”, “us”) for the use of Scenetic on the web, iPhone and Android. By creating an account or using Scenetic you accept them and our Privacy Policy. If you use Scenetic for an organisation, you accept them on its behalf. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer laws that cannot be changed by contract.
02Who can use Scenetic
You must be at least 13, or older where your country sets a higher age for consenting to the use of your data (up to 16 in some EU countries). If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent’s or guardian’s permission, and they must accept these terms and make any purchase for you.
03Your account
Give accurate information, keep your sign-in details safe and tell us straight away about any unauthorised use. You are responsible for activity on your account. An account is for one person.
04Free and Pro
Scenetic Free costs nothing and includes one editable production with the full editor, sync and .scenetic.json backups. Scenetic Pro adds unlimited productions, crew packets and SVG plans, and import. The current features of each plan are shown on the Pricing page and in the app.
A Pro subscription bought on the web, in the App Store or on Google Play unlocks Pro for your Scenetic account on every platform. Family Sharing is not supported.
05Subscriptions and payment
Pro renews automatically each month or year until you cancel. The price, billing period and any free-trial terms are shown before you buy. A free trial becomes a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel before then.
Web subscriptions are billed through our payment processor, Stripe. Subscriptions bought through the App Store or Google Play are billed by Apple or Google under their terms.
If a renewal payment fails, Pro stays on for a short grace period while the payment is retried (currently 7 days on the web; Apple and Google set their own). If it is still unpaid, Pro ends.
We may change Pro’s price. For web subscriptions we will tell you by email at least 30 days before a new price applies to your next renewal, and you can cancel before then. Price changes for App Store and Google Play subscriptions follow those stores’ rules, including asking for your agreement where they require it.
06Cancellation and refunds
Web: cancel any time in Settings → Plan & billing → Manage subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Pro stays on until the end of the period you have paid for. App Store and Google Play: cancel in the store’s subscription settings at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
Except for the withdrawal right below or where the law requires otherwise, web payments are not refunded, including for the rest of a period after you cancel. If you are charged for two overlapping web subscriptions, we refund the duplicate automatically. If something else went wrong with a charge, contact us. Refunds for App Store and Google Play purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their policies; ask them through Apple’s Report a Problem page or Google Play’s refund request.
Deleting your account cancels a web subscription immediately, without a refund for the rest of the period. It does not cancel App Store or Google Play subscriptions.
If Pro ends, nothing is deleted: every production stays viewable and exportable, and your free production stays editable.
07Right to withdraw (EU, EEA and UK consumers)
If you live in the EU, EEA or UK and buy Pro on the web as a consumer, you can withdraw from that purchase within 14 days of the day you bought it, without giving a reason. To withdraw, send us a clear statement before the 14 days end — for example an email from your account’s address saying: “I withdraw from my contract for Scenetic Pro, bought on (date).” We then end the subscription and refund everything you paid for it, using the original payment method, within 14 days of receiving your statement, at no cost to you. Later automatic renewals are not new purchases, but you can cancel them at any time as described above.
For purchases through the App Store or Google Play, Apple’s or Google’s terms decide any withdrawal right and refund.
08Your content
You own the plans and other content you create. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, sync, back up, process and display your content only as needed to provide Scenetic to you, for as long as you keep it in Scenetic. We do not claim ownership, do not use your content to train AI models and do not share it except as described in the Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for your content and for having the rights to it, including any details about other people you add. Files you export and share, such as crew packets, are shared by you. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without any obligation to you.
09Our software
Scenetic, its software, design and brand belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the apps and the web app under these terms. Open-source components in Scenetic are licensed under their own terms.
10Acceptable use
Do not use Scenetic to:
- break the law or infringe anyone else’s rights;
- access other people’s accounts or data, or probe or test Scenetic’s security without our permission;
- upload malware or anything designed to harm Scenetic or its users;
- overload or disrupt the service, including with automated or bulk requests or by creating accounts in bulk;
- get around plan limits, rate limits or security checks such as Turnstile or app integrity checks;
- send unwanted email, for example by triggering sign-up codes to addresses that are not yours;
- copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell Scenetic, except as the law allows.
11A planning tool, not a safety tool
Plans, measurements, 3D views, Frame previews and lens and field-of-view figures are schematic approximations based on what you enter. They are not engineering drawings and do not replace location surveys, on-set checks, safety assessments, rigging or electrical calculations, or professional judgement. You are responsible for safety on your set and for confirming dimensions, positions and equipment on the day.
12Availability and changes to Scenetic
We work to keep Scenetic available and your data safe, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance; the apps keep working offline in the meantime. Keep backups of important productions (Settings → Sync & backup).
We may change, add or remove features. If we significantly reduce what Pro includes or stop offering Scenetic, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance where we can, so you can export your work, and refund any prepaid, unused part of a web subscription.
13Suspension and ending the agreement
You can stop using Scenetic and delete your account at any time (see the account deletion page). We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or where the law requires it. We will tell you why and, where reasonable, give you notice and a chance to export your content first. If we close your account without you being at fault, we refund any prepaid, unused part of a web subscription.
14Disclaimers
Scenetic is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties beyond those in these terms — including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement — and we do not promise that Scenetic will be uninterrupted or error-free or that data will never be lost.
15Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, productions or goodwill, arising from your use of Scenetic. Our total liability for all claims relating to Scenetic is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Scenetic Pro in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim and USD 50.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or your statutory rights as a consumer. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, the disclaimers and limits above apply only as far as your local law allows, and we remain responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these terms.
16App Store and Google Play
If you got Scenetic from the App Store: these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to the iPhone app; where the two conflict for the iPhone app, Apple’s agreement prevails. Apple is not responsible for Scenetic or its content, maintenance or support, for product or intellectual-property claims about it, or for any warranty — if the app fails to meet a warranty that applies by law, you may notify Apple, which will refund its purchase price, if any. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms as they relate to the iPhone app and may enforce them. You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a US government embargo and are not on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
If you got Scenetic from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply to your download and purchases. Google is not responsible for Scenetic.
17Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of [Governing law], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and disputes are decided by [Courts and venue]. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and may bring proceedings in your local courts. Please contact us first — most problems can be solved quickly.
18Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example for new features or legal changes. We post the new version here with its effective date and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before they apply (or sooner if the law requires a faster change). If you do not agree, you can stop using Scenetic and delete your account before the change applies; continuing to use Scenetic after that means you accept the new terms.
19General
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Scenetic. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer these terms without our consent; we may transfer them to a company that takes over Scenetic, without reducing your rights.
